Scent is often treated as the final decorative layer in a venue. At the Savoy Theatre, it became part of the audience experience. FYG was appointed to fragrance the theatre at commercial scale, creating a consistent atmosphere around performances without relying on visible consumer diffusers or continuous all-day operation.
THE BRIEF
The requirement was not simply to make one corner smell pleasant. The system needed to serve a large, high-footfall theatre environment, work around the performance schedule and deliver a fragrance that felt considered rather than intrusive. It also needed to be practical for the venue team to operate.

THE SOLUTION
FYG specified a Pro commercial diffusion system for the venue and programmed it around performance times. Cold-air nebulisation disperses fragrance oil as an ultra-fine dry mist, with no heat, no water and no residue.
Scheduling means the system can build the atmosphere before guests arrive, maintain it through the audience journey and remain off when it is not required.

A PARTNERSHIP THAT EVOLVED
The original partnership included a customised Savoy fragrance built around mandarin, cedarwood and tonka, with the scent also extending into candles.
It demonstrated the central FYG model: one fragrance story moving from the air into a product that guests can experience beyond the venue.

PADDINGTON THE MUSICAL: A PRODUCTION-SPECIFIC COMMISSION
The relationship later developed further when Dramatic Paws Ltd, the production company behind Paddington the Musical, commissioned FYG to create a fragrance specifically for the production.
The fragrance was developed in-house, matched to the world of the show and diffused through the auditorium using the FYG Pro already in service. Scent became another part of the storytelling rather than an unrelated room fragrance.
WHAT THE PROJECT PROVES
The Savoy Theatre partnership demonstrates that commercial fragrancing can be scaled, timed and adapted. The same infrastructure can support a permanent venue identity, seasonal changes or a specific event and production.
It also shows the value of working with a fragrance house rather than a machine-only supplier: the system, the scent and the take-home product can be developed as one programme.
