Candle Pearls Explained: How to Use Pourable Candle Wax

FYG Candle Pearls arranged in a candle vessel

Imagine choosing a bowl that suits the room, pouring in wax pearls and creating a candle arrangement without buying another pre-filled jar. That is the idea behind FYG Candle Pearls: loose, pourable candle wax supplied with separate cotton wicks.

It looks different from a traditional candle, so understanding exactly what comes in the box and how to use it matters. This guide explains the essentials before you buy.

What are Candle Pearls?

Candle Pearls are individual wax granules that can be poured into a suitable candle vessel and used with a separate wick. FYG's pearls are made in England using a coconut and non-GMO rapeseed wax blend. Rather than arriving in a fixed glass jar, they let you choose the appearance of the finished arrangement.

Because the wax is loose, you can change the arrangement of the remaining unburned pearls after everything has cooled. The wax that has melted around the wick behaves differently, so always allow it to cool completely before handling or restyling.

What comes in an FYG Candle Pearls box?

  • 500g of pourable wax pearls in your chosen colour.
  • 30 cotton wicks to use as directed on the product packaging.
  • A choice of Chalk (soft white), Sand (warm beige), Rose (blush pink) or Slate (deep grey).

What is not included: a candle bowl or vessel. Any vessel shown in lifestyle photography is illustrative. Fragrance oil is also not included.

How do you use pourable candle wax?

1. Choose the correct vessel

Start with a stable, suitable heat-safe container specifically appropriate for candle use. A decorative bowl is not automatically safe because it looks ceramic or substantial. Follow the candle-vessel and product safety instructions, and place the arrangement on a suitable surface away from anything flammable.

2. Pour in the wax pearls

Pour the loose pearls into the chosen vessel. This is a dry, pourable wax format. You do not need to melt the pearls before setting up the candle. Keep the arrangement away from draughts and anything that could touch the flame.

3. Insert a supplied cotton wick

Insert the wick following the instructions supplied with your FYG pack. Correct wick positioning and spacing depend on the vessel and safety guidance. Do not assume that adding more wicks is suitable for every bowl.

4. Light and enjoy, then allow to cool

Keep the burning candle within sight and follow the supplied candle-care guidance. Once extinguished, wait until the wax has cooled completely before touching the wax, wick or vessel. Replace the used wick as instructed and rearrange the remaining loose pearls for a new look when appropriate.

Can you change the bowl?

One of the appealing aspects of the format is its flexibility. If you want a different colour palette or a new arrangement, the loose pearls can be restyled in another suitable heat-safe vessel after cooling. Do not transfer hot or liquefied wax between bowls. This is a candle-making material with an open flame, not an ordinary decorative filler.

Are Candle Pearls scented?

The FYG pack contains wax pearls and wicks; fragrance oil is not included. Some older FYG materials discussed fragrance pairing, but the current product guidance does not provide a verified method for adding FYG fragrance oils to Candle Pearls. Until a specific tested method is supplied, do not add fragrance oil to a lit candle, onto a wick or directly to loose wax.

If fragrance is your main reason for buying, choose an already formulated FYG scented candle, reed diffuser or wax melt instead.

Which Candle Pearls colour should you choose?

Chalk feels light and minimal, especially in neutral interiors. Sand brings a warmer, natural note. Rose makes a soft colour statement, while Slate feels architectural and dramatic. All four colours are the same wax-and-wick format, so choose the one you would enjoy styling.

A final note on safe candle use

Always use a suitable heat-safe candle vessel, keep the flame supervised and follow the product's instructions. Stop using an arrangement if the vessel shows damage or becomes unsuitable. A vessel is required but is not part of the current Candle Pearls box.
